They are a standard and scientific method used to measure individuals’ mental capabilities and behavioural style. There are different types:
- Self Report: in which a person fills out a survey or questionnaire with or without the help of an investigator. Self–report
inventories often ask direct questions about personal interests, values, symptoms, behaviors, and traits or personality types. - Performance Test: an assessment requiring the subject to perform a task or activity
- Speed Test: these tests have a time limit in which to complete them. The questions are usually similar in difficulty. The purpose of a speed test is to determine how quickly an individual is able to answer questions within a certain time period.
- Power Test: these tests typically do not have a time limit and are concerned with the underlying ability of individuals. The questions are usually more difficult on power tests relative to speed tests.
The following tests will be either of the above mentioned test. All tests will give you a report to understand that specific assessment.
